Testing RC Toys! We Try the X-Violent, a 1/10 4WD 2S 2.4G RTR

This weekend an "truck" landed in my hands — that's what Americans call these RC cars. It's a toy, not quite hobby-grade since it lacks several features that keep it out of the serious catalog.

Its design is quite attractive, very similar to proper RC trucks, with four-wheel drive, two differentials that work fairly well, a 7.4V LiPo with charger and a 2.4G transmitter with the same layout as the FS GT2. It's a car we'd recommend for kids who don't yet have much RC experience — the materials are very tough and flexible, the finish is good and the drivetrain runs really smoothly.

The main issue to keep in mind is that steering and throttle are not proportional — you either turn fully or go straight, with no in-between.

Either way, after the video below you'll find a list of pros and cons for the car.

Despite everything, the goal is to have fun with the car — and that's what we did!

Enjoy this short video!

PROS AND CONS,

CONS:

- Non-proportional steering and throttle, hard to maneuver - Short LiPo runtime - Excessive motor overheating, even drops performance - Toy-grade suspension (spring only) - Tires not glued to the wheels and slip on the rims

PROS:

- Runs on 2S LiPo and includes a charger - Transmitter with decent feel and 2.4G - Front and rear differentials, 4x4 drive - Good plastic and body quality - Very attractive design and looks
