It took the IFMAR GT Worlds for someone to raise the alarm about how the category is evolving! IFMAR is starting to worry that new GT car concepts are losing their off-road essence.
Apparently a meeting with the manufacturers present is scheduled for tomorrow to discuss this issue — whether it makes sense to restrict the class further or, on the contrary, give it free rein.
Edu Ameijide explains that the main "problem" comes from the position of the differentials. In the latest designs they are placed lower than on their off-road derivatives; this modification makes them superior on high-grip tracks such as Homestead RC Raceway in Miami, where the Worlds are being held.

Another element could be added to this controversy: pivoting body mounts, which were already a source of complaints at the previous European Championship held in Germany, although in that case the changes and differences between drivers were not as drastic.
We will see how all this evolves!
